Update - Will Smith's daughter left the project, Quvenzhané Wallis has taken over the title role


Will Smith and Jay-Z are going produce a remake of Annie, the 1982 family movie that was based on the Broadway of the same name. Guess who will have the lead role: Willow Smith, yep, Will Smith's daughter! I guess Will Smith wants the film to be a stepping stone for his daughter's movie career like the recent remake of Karate Kid was for his son Jaden. According to Vulture Scriptwriter Emma Thompson is in negotiations to write an updated screenplay for the remake. The film is listed for a release in 2013 by IMDb.

Can't say I'm excited about this remake of Annie. But well, if Willow Smith is as talented as her father and her brother I guess the film will be entertaining at least.
